Description
ACT (Aims Community Theater) is pleased to present performances of the Ancient Greek play Lysistrata, written by Aristophanes (446-386 BCE). This Greek comedy tells the story of Lysistrata, a strong woman who rallies the women of her community to stop their husband's involvement in the Peloponnesian War by withholding entertainment of their sexual desires for as long as it takes for them to stop fighting. This show highlights women's power while also showcasing the chaos that ensues when male roles are challenged. It's spicy, provocative, and also hilarious.
There will be two opportunities for "talkbacks" after the performance, which will help provide more context around the themes of the performance. These will be on Friday, November 15, and Sunday, November 17.
Due to the nature of the content, these performances are for MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.
Tickets are $10, but free for current Aims Students. Email Stephanie.Newton@aims.edu to gain access to the free tickets.
